Title: The Resurrection

Miracles are a move of God beyond any human thought, ability or action. Miracles still exist and God still moves.

Miracles are a move of God beyond any human thought, ability, or action. Miracles can’t be explained, but they do have a source. Miracles can’t be controlled by human beings but can be received when we surrender and make room for the merciful possibilities of a loving God. Miracles intersect the impossible every day, waiting for the next relationship, provision, thought, or need that gives way to God’s way.  A miracle is coming – get ready!

The Miracle of the Resurrection reminds us that all miracles are possible through faith in God.

Luke 24:1-12 NLT But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.” Then they remembered that he had said this. So they rushed back from the tomb to tell his eleven disciples—and everyone else—what had happened. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several other women who told the apostles what had happened. 11 But the story sounded like nonsense to the men, so they didn’t believe it. 12 However, Peter jumped up and ran to the tomb to look. Stooping, he peered in and saw the empty linen wrappings; then he went home again, wondering what had happened.

Luke 24:35-48

Psalm 77:14 NIV You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

Where do you need God to move miraculously in your life, your family, your faith?

Matthew 17:20-21 ESV For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Family/Group Study Notes for the week of April 20, 2025

Series: Miracles

Title: The Resurrection

  • Share with your family and/or group where you have seen God move in ways that are unexplainable.  How have your prayers and faith opened your eyes to see God move miraculously?
  • Read Luke 24:1-12.  What surprises you about this passage?  Why was Jesus’ resurrection so hard for them to believe? How have you been puzzled as to what God was up to?  What do you do when you don’t fully understand? What did the angels have to remind those coming to the tomb?  Why was that important? What reminders do you need when facing difficult situations and circumstances?  Who is the person you rely on to keep reminding you of God’s goodness and power?  If you don’t have such a person, what can be your next step for support in this area of faith?
  • Read Luke 24:35-45.  Later in the day of the resurrection, Jesus comes amidst them. Peter has already shared the resurrection with the disciples and now Cleopas and his friend share of their meeting with Jesus.  How did the disciples react?  Why? What would you say is normal or abnormal from their reactions?  How might you have reacted?  What assurances does Jesus give them?  Why did Jesus say what He did in verse 44?  How is this like the angels’ words earlier?  Why are Scripture and experience of faith important in helping people understand Jesus? How has it been true in your testimony?
  • Read Luke 24:46-48.  What do you see as the greatest miracle that God gives through Jesus’ death and resurrection?  Why is repentance of sins important? How can you be a witness to this miracle?  Make a list of those you know who do not follow Jesus.  Begin to pray for them daily.  Look for ways to introduce what Jesus did for them.
  • Read Matthew 17:20-21.  How do faith and miracles go hand in hand?  How has faith opened your eyes to the goodness of God and the moves of God? What practices can you put in place to live in faith every day?  How would that affect your decision and actions?
