Title:  Anticipate Greater Things

All believers can anticipate being a part of God’s redemptive play for the world.

2 Corinthians 9:8  God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

John 14:12-14 I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the    Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

Personal Notes:

•  All believers can do works that lead people to Jesus.


•  All believers can do the greater work of opening the door of forgiveness.


•  All believers will have everything they need to do the work that glorifies God.

Family/Study Group Notes for September 10, 2023
Series: Anticipation
Title:  Anticipate Greater Things

• Discuss with your family or group how Jesus would most want you to serve Him in this world. 

• What do you anticipate most from God?  What causes your anticipation from God to waver the most? Why? How can that be strengthened?

• Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-11. What are the promises in this passage?  What are the things a generous believer should anticipate?  What is the attitude of a generous giver? What is God doing in all of this? What are your thoughts on vs. 8?

• Read John 14:8-14. What is going on in this passage?  What is Jesus trying to help Philip and the other disciples understand? What is Philip struggling with?  Where do you struggle most in your belief in Jesus?

• From the passage above, what does Jesus say is the purpose of His works? As believers in Jesus, how can our works point others to Jesus? Be specific!  What would others say about your life?  Who would they say you represent the most – you or Jesus? What would you do differently?

• Because Jesus was crucified, died, buried, and rose again, His forgiveness is now available for everyone. The greater work we get the privilege of doing is to proclaim forgiveness in His name and draw others to Him. Discuss with each other how this can be more a part of your lives.

• Gather with each other and pray for ways you can represent Jesus every day.
