Romans 12:10,17 ESV. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor… 17 Repay no one

you, you have gained your brother…

Proverbs 27:17, Proverbs 18:24
1 Thessalonians 5:10-11 nlt 10 Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him
forever. 11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
· Speak kindly.

yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
· Love like Jesus.
Romans 12:9-10,
John 15:12-13 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than
this, that someone lay down his life for his friends

Title: Honor in Friendships
How would you describe a friendship? What makes it good? What has caused friendships to break?
What would “outdoing one another in showing honor” look like in a friendship?
Read Matthew 18:15-17. When has this pattern of reconciliation been true for you? When have you skipped a
step – why? How does this process honor someone? What happens when this process is not followed?
Read Proverbs 27:9-10. Are your friendships open to counsel from each other? If not, what is the fear? How
can this be overcome? Discuss with your family or group how you can be more transparent in helping each
other grow in character and likeness of Jesus. What permission needs to be given?
Read John 15:12-13. What does laying down life for friendship look like? How did Jesus do this for you?
Read Philippians 2:3-4. What would friendships look like if we really practiced this? Why is this so difficult?
Gather with your group/family and pray for each other to grow in biblical friendship.
