Inviting Others to Christ

Mark 8:22-26 ESV And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”

Mark 2:2-5 ESV And many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word to them. And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Inviting Others to Christ

* Read Mark 8:22-26. Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village before healing him. Why do you think Jesus chose to do this in a private setting?

* What significance might this hold for how Jesus works in our lives today, sometimes in private or unexpected ways?

* Jesus heals the blind man in stages. Have you experienced a time when God’s answer to your prayers came in stages rather than all at once? How did you feel during the waiting period? What might God have been teaching you during that time?

* When the man’s sight was partially restored, he saw “people, but they look like trees, walking.” How does this represent our journey of faith, where we might not always see everything clearly at first? What practices can help us grow in spiritual clarity and trust in God’s full plan for us?

* Read Mark 2:2-5. The paralytic’s friends didn’t give up despite obstacles. What barriers have you faced in trying to help others or bring them closer to Jesus? How can you show persistence in your faith and support others in their faith journey?

* Jesus addresses the paralytic’s spiritual need first, saying, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Are there areas in your life where you are seeking physical or emotional healing, but God may want to address something deeper first? How can we open our hearts to receive both physical and spiritual healing?

* Think of someone in your life who might need help getting closer to Jesus (like the paralytic’s friends helped him). What practical steps can you take this week to bring that person to Jesus, through prayer, encouragement, or support?

* Jesus meets both the paralytic and the blind man where they are. In what ways have you seen Jesus meet you in your specific needs?
