Title: Jesus As Teacher and Prophet
* Have you had a teacher that’s made a mark on your life? What was it about them that made a lasting impact? What is it about how Jesus taught that made people so drawn to him? What makes Him the greatest teacher of all time?
* How have Jesus’s teachings been influential in your life and/or your family? What key teachings of Jesus do you know well and regularly encourage others to live out also? Share with the group.
* Read John 7:32-46. What stands out the most for you in this passage? What does the passage say about how Jesus taught? Why were the Pharisees so upset? What impact did Jesus’s teachings have on the lives of the officers? What impact do Jesus’s teachings have on your life?
* Read Matthew 6:27, Matthew 14:31, Matthew 16:13-15, and Luke 6:32. What do all these passages have in common? Why do you think Jesus used questions to teach? How can we learn from the questions Jesus asks throughout the Gospels?
* Read Mark 10:17-21. Jesus paints a picture for us, graphically, to imagine the impossibility of a camel fitting through the eye of a needle. How does this passage hit you? How does the picture Jesus paints help you to understand the struggle we often face, to put aside earthly things for the sake of eternity?
* Jesus taught practically. Are there any practical things that Jesus taught that are hard for you to put into practice? (For some examples read Matt. 6:24, Matt. 6: 26-28, Matt. 6:34, Matt. 18:15-17, Luke 6:38, Matt. 7:24-27)
Gather with your family/group and pray for each other.
