Title: Contentment from our Identity in Christ
Our identity in Christ
Galatians 2:20
Ephesians 2:10a
Habbakkuk 3:17-18
Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Philippians 4:11-15
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
2 Corinthians 12:10
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Jesus is enough for you.
Look at your life through a new lens – God’s lens!

Title: Contentment from our Identity in Christ
1. Think of a time in your life when circumstances didn’t go the way you hoped. How did that make you feel? How did you navigate that time?
2. What is contentment? Why do you think people are less at peace and less contented now than at almost any other time? What is the source of most people’s contentment?
3. Where have you tried to find contentment in the past: people, places, objects, feelings etc.? How has that worked out for you? – explain. Why do you think people look at so many different things to find contentment?
4. Read Job 1. What stands out the most for you in this passage? What does the passage say about Job’s relationship with God? How did Job react to his circumstances at the end of the chapter? What impact did Job’s faith in God have on his life while he endured many trials? How does your relationship with God impact your life when you face trials?
5. Read Philippians 4:11-15. How does changing our focus to God help us find contentment? How does He strengthen us in our lowest points? How easy is it to find contentment when we are at the lowest? Why is that difficult? Contentment doesn’t mean that all is well, it means we must rely on a power outside of us to help us move through the dark times.
6. Read Mark 1:15b. This passage speaks of turning from our past ways and turning to the good news of Jesus. Are you willing to turn from your discontentment and turn to true contentment in Jesus? Take this time to self-reflect, pray, and repent to God of the times when you have tried to be filled with things of the world, and not of Him.
7. Gather with your family/group and pray for each other.
