Series: Enough
Title: Do I Really Have Enough?
Bottom Line: Contentment with who you are, what you have, and what circumstance you are in will lead to a more abundant life in Christ.
Message Verse: 1 Samuel 8:19-20, Philippians 4:11-15, 1 Tim 6:6-9
16/44 of Christ’s parables speak to the use/misuse of possessions and finances (It’s important!)
· 1 Samuel 8:19-20: Comparison kills true worship
1 Samuel 8:19-20 19 But the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel. And they said, “No! But there shall be a king over us, 20 that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.”
· Philippians 4:11-15: Draw from God’s strength in every circumstance
Philippians 4:11-15 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me. 14 Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. 15 And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only.
· 1 Timothy 6:6-9: Pursue Godly purpose rather than Godly benefits
1 Timothy 6:6-9 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain, 7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. 8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
