Title: Looking for Christ, the True Vine

Bottom Line: When you are rooted in Christ the true vine you will find Christ everywhere and bless him anywhere. 

Message Verse: John 15:5, Luke 2:22-38

Babies were to be presented TO the LORD, but Jesus as a baby was           presented BY the LORD. 

• Be confident in Christ like Simeon & Anna. 
• Be attached to Christ the True Vine. 
• Be one who blesses God and others publicly. 

What area of your life will you focus on bearing more spiritual fruit? (Prayer life, worship, service, your words, spiritual gifts, your time at church, your relationships?)

Title: Looking for Christ, the True Vine

• When was a time in your spiritual journey you were looking to God for something big? What happened? What did God teach you? 
•  Read Luke 2:22-35. How is Simeon described? What was Simeon looking for before he died? What were spiritual fruits in Simeon’s life? 
• Who is someone in your life who has had faith or devotion like Simeon? 
• Read Luke 2:36-38. How is Anna described? What were spiritual fruits in Anna’s life? Who is someone in your life who has had faith or devotion like Anna? 
• Read John 15:5. What are some ways Simeon and Anna remained connected to God the true vine in their lives? 
• What helps you stay connected to Christ as your true vine? What takes you away from abiding in Christ your true vine? 
• Read Luke 2:29-34 again. How can you bless Jesus and others publicly with your words like Simeon and Anna? 
• Put together a list of spiritual practices that help you stay connected to Christ the true vine, and things that take you away from Christ your true vine. Choose one or two spiritual practices to devote yourself to this new year. Pray to God about that list and share with someone else so they can support you in your spiritual goals.
