Family/Group Study Notes for the week of August 10, 2025

Title: The Importance of Leadership

  • Share with your group/family how Christian leadership has had an impact on your walk with Christ.  How have you been encouraged?  How have you been challenged?  How would you measure your growth as a Christian over the past    several years?  How has that changed your service, your giving, your prayer life, your devotion time personally and with family? Why is it important to grow in Christian leadership?  What changes do you need to make to grow in the above areas?  Is there a reason you have or haven’t grown?  How can your group/family keep you accountable in your Christian Walk?
  • Read 2 Timothy 4:1-5. Why were these words important for Timothy to hear? Why are they important for us to hear?  What does it mean to be in the Word in season and out of season?  How does one prepare us for the other?  How has vs. 2 been real in your life with a mentor?  How has it helped you grow? Where have you seen people surround themselves with the teachings and opinions that support their desires or thinking?  How has that moved them further from the truth in Christ?  What are ways we are susceptible to following that same pattern? What does it mean to be “sober minded”?  What does vs. 5 say that we need to do?    How can we help each other fulfill such a command?
  • Read Ephesians 4: 1, 11-16.  What does it mean to you to walk in a manner worthy of your calling?  How do you see your calling in Christ?  In vs 11, how have these gifts from you or from others helped you grow in Christ?  What is the value of each to the Body of Christ? In vs. 12-16, what are the benefits of the named gifts above for each of you?  Which of these benefits stand out for you?  What would it mean for the unbelieving community to experience you and the church in these ways?  Why is it important even more today to be anchored in a solid value and beliefs?
  • Read 2 Peter 1:1-11. What does vs. 3 mean to you?  What does this say about God?  What does it say about your desire to receive all God has for you? What is the difference between a divine nature and a worldly nature?  How can you grow in your divine nature?  How can you help each other? Read vs. 6-8. Why does Peter connect these together?  What is the benefit of these attributes for God’s work in your life? How would you rate your desire to be fruitful for Jesus in your life? How did you get there or what would need to change or grow? What does vs. 10-11 mean to you?
  • Gather with each other and pray for each other’s growth in Christ.
