What is the value of wisdom?

Proverbs 8:32-36, Proverbs 24: 13-14, Proverbs 3:13

How do we gain God’s wisdom?

• Desire It!

James 1:5  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

• Invest Time!

Psalm 19:7-11 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

• Be Humble!

Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.

• Come to Christ!

1 Corinthians 1:24-25  but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. ²⁵ For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Title: Pathway to Wisdom – Psalm 19

• How would you describe wisdom?  How do you get it?
• What would you say is the difference between earthly wisdom and Godly wisdom?
• Read Proverbs 4:8-9. What is the value of wisdom?  Why should we desire it?  Read Proverbs 8:32-36.  What does this passage say concerning how to gain wisdom?  What are the consequences, both positive and negative?
• What could prevent you from growing in wisdom?  Share!   Read Proverbs 11:2. What does humility look like for you in order to grow in wisdom?  How would that play out in daily life and with God?
• Read Colossians 2:1-5.  What does this passage say about wisdom and its source? 
• Read Psalm 19:7-11.  Study each section of this passage.  What is the wisdom in following the ways of God? How does the psalmist describe wisdom’s impact on your life?  How would you see this to be true in your own life?
• Gather in smaller groups and pray for each other to obtain the wisdom from Christ.
