Jesus Walks On The Storm

Message Notes for February 2, 2020

Title: Jesus walks on the storm!
Mission Clarity: Seeing clearly how your life is lived in this world for God’s purposes.
Main Scripture: John 6:16-21
When storms hit you, how do you respond? What do you ask God to do?
We desire what God can give us more than we desire God himself.
Mission Clarity starts by seeing Jesus clearly. The ultimate test is if we can see Jesus in the storms.
Jesus is Lord over creation. (Job 26:12-14)
Jesus meets us in the storms. (Isaiah 43:2)
So what should we do now? John 6:28-29 “They replied, “What does a God want us to do?” Jesus told them, “This is what God wants you to do: Believe in the one he has sent.”

Title: Jesus walks on the storm!
- Have you ever been caught in a storm while in the ocean or a lake? What was it like? How much control did you have?
- Read John 6:15-21-picture yourself in the story.
- Why didn’t Jesus originally join the disciples in the boat? Where was Jesus?
- How far had the disciples rowed the boat in the storm? How much more energy do you think they had left?
- Imagine you are one of the disciples, you have rowed for hours, the current is sucking you out further to sea, you are wet, cold and you don’t know where Jesus is because he left you earlier to go pray. How would you feel towards Jesus?
- Still imagine you are one of the disciples. You see something moving towards you on the sea! It’s Jesus, actually walking on the white caps of the waves! You let Him in the boat and then somehow teleport miles to shore within that instant. Now, how would you feel towards Jesus?
- It’s hard to see Jesus in the toughest times of life, sometimes we question if He is near. But what does this passage show you about His presence?
- We want God to stop the storms of our life, but He wants to join us in the storms. As we go on mission for Jesus there will be even more storms. How does this scripture comfort your soul?
- Will you believe that Jesus is enough for you? Where do you need to believe in Him more this year?
