Title: I am the bread of life
Exodus 3:13-15 13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” 15 God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.
John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
John 6:22-59
Personal Notes:
What do we learn from Jesus?
- Jesus came not to give bread but rather to be bread.
John 6:27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
Isaiah 53:4-6
- Our human tendency is to desire things from Jesus and not Jesus Himself.
Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- A deeply satisfied life is one filled with Jesus.
Isaiah 58:11 The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.
John 4:14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

Title: I am the bread of life
- What things make your life on earth really good? What do you hope and pray for to change for the better?
- Do you pray more often for what Jesus can do for you or for more of Jesus in you? What is the difference?
- Read John 6:22-40. What is the main focus of the crowd in this passage? What is the main focus of Jesus? Why do the people want to find Jesus? What does Jesus want them to understand about Him? Why is this understanding difficult for them? For you?
- What does it mean to hunger and thirst for something? What has been that for you? Why does Jesus use this image? How does our world make us hungry and thirsty? How can we have our physical needs met, but still be hungry and thirsty? How can Jesus satisfy that place?
- What does it mean in vs.27 that God has set His seal on Jesus? What would it mean for God to set His seal on you? Read 2 Corinthians 1:21-22.
- What would it mean for Jesus to sustain, fill and bring contentment in your life? What would that look like?
