Main Point: If you follow Jesus, you have already been set free from sin!

Romans chapters 6-8

Have you ever tried a quick way to lose weight, or to gain muscle? How’d that work out?
Have you ever tried that with breaking a sin habit? A quick and easy way to fix it? How’d that work?

Write down a sin/habit you are struggling to break free from and share it with God and if you are willing, someone else who is a trustworthy Christian.

Read all of Romans 6.
-According to this, when were we set free from sin?
-When did we die to our flesh? How? Why is this important that it’s all past tense?

What is a lie that you have told yourself that makes it seem OK to keep sinning? Maybe it’s that no one will know, that it’s not a big deal, it’s not hurting anyone, God will forgive me after…etc.

Read Romans 7:15-20. Where are you going through this type of battle in your life?

Read Romans 8:12-16. How do we now live, knowing we are dead to sin? What are some biblical strategies offered here to help you not give into sin when you’re tempted?

Close with 2 Corinthians 3:17 and claim God’s freedom from sin over yourself and someone else!
