Title: Wisdom For the Asking
Read 2 Chronicles Chapter 1:1-13. Why do you think Solomon made so many sacrifices before the altar of God? Beginning in vs. 7, we see a bit of Solomon’s fearful heart as a young man given such a huge task of governance. What was it about his prayer that God dearly loved? How can this prayer guide your own prayers before God? What do you think God desires most from your life?
Read Solomon’s prayer in 2 Chronicles 6:12-42 and Chapter 7: 1-2. What does this prayer reveal about the relationship Solomon has with God? What does Solomon understand about the nature of human beings? What does Solomon understand about the nature of God? How do you see God in this prayer? How do you see the justice of God in this prayer? In what ways have you prayed this type of prayer? Share with the group. Why do you think the glory of God was so revealed after such a prayer? How can this type of prayer usher in the glory of God in your own life?
Read 2 Chronicles 7:14-22. What are the promises in this passage? What are the commands? What is God wanting Solomon and the people to do? What are the blessings? What are the consequences? How do you see this lived out among churches and leaders today? How do you see this happening in the lives of individuals and families?
Review the four points in the message outline. How can you apply these in your life as you seek wisdom from God?
Gather with each other and pray for each other and your heart and desire for wisdom from God.
