What made Joseph and Mary available for a great move of God?
- God was first above all else.
- Their love for each other allowed room for the call of God.
- Their character was focused on doing the right thing.
Family/Study Group Notes for Week of December 11, 2022
Series: Out of the Box
Title: An Out of the Box Marriage
-
Discuss with your family and/or friend group – how would you like to be used by God in this world? What fears do you have in being available for God in this way? What do you think is keeping this from happening?
-
Read Matthew 1:18-25. What were some of the challenges for Joseph to follow God in this passage? What did he have to overcome to finally allow himself to follow God? What risk was there to his reputation? What old dreams might have been shattered from his expectation of his marriage? What new dreams might have emerged? How do you think you would have responded?
- What challenges face you and your family to put God first in all things? Read Luke 1:26-38. What were some of the challenges for Mary to follow God with this passage? What would she have to let go of to be fully available for God? What would she have to believe?
-
When it comes to spreading the name of Jesus to the world, how can you and your family be more engaged in delivering this message?
-
Gather in smaller groups and pray for those who are far from God. Take a moment to right down the names of people you want to come to Christ. Pray for each of them and the ways you may share Jesus.
