Title: Can’t Wait to See What’s Next!
• Reflect on things that you eagerly anticipate, such as fruit newly in season, seeing family after an extended time apart or watching a long-loved movie on the big screen. What else comes to mind? How does it feel? Do you develop that I-can’t-wait frame of mind? How does your anticipation affect other areas of your day and your life?
• Read 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Have you received comfort from other people who have experienced afflictions similar to your own? Have you received comfort directly from God? How can the pain you’ve been through and the comfort you received help others in their journey through the broken and messy parts of their own lives? How do you think it will help you in your afflictions if you can shift your focus and reflect with anticipation like this?
– “I can’t wait to see how God will lead me to use this experience to comfort someone else.”
• Read Exodus 14:12-14
At this time did Moses KNOW exactly HOW God would rescue His people and deliver them? Can you think of other Bible stories where God’s people anticipated His help when everything appeared hopeless? Do you have examples from your own life or those of the people around you? How does this encourage you to anticipate the yet-unknown move of God that will deliver you when life is difficult?
• Reflect on the character of God and how he acts in our lives as a result. You might consider Compassion, Love, Grace, Faithfulness. What are other aspects of God’s character? How do we see God act from those aspects of character?
• Consider Matthew 5:16, Romans 10:15, 17
What can we do to help other people learn the truth about God, so they can enter into the anticipation, in good times or struggle, of the promises and character of God in their lives?
