Series: A Tour of Ephesians – The Walls Will Fall
Title: One Household
- One Household
- “Best of Enemies”
- Mathew 5:21-24
- The program of God includes salvation for the individual of course, but it overflows that human person in solitary aloneness. Our salvation occurs in relationships, not isolation.
- Ephesians 2:11-22
- Ephesians 3:1-11
- One Body
- Verse 10 – the intent of the church, of the people gathered into one household, is spread to make the manifold wisdom of God known to the world – we do this by living it out… by welcoming the stranger – by carrying for those left behind, for welcoming those different then us – by forming one household in Christ’s name.

Title: One Household
-
When was a time you were challenged in accepting someone else? As a Christian has there ever been a time you have found it difficult to interact/be in community with someone else? Why? What was the situation? Did you overcome the reluctance? How? What happened?
-
Read Mathew 5:21-24. Why does Jesus relate anger with someone to murder? He says don’t even bring an offering to God if you are angry. Why is this so important to Jesus? Is there anyone you are angry with now? Why? Who? What are you going to do about it?
-
Read Ephesians 2:11-22. How did Jesus bring you into the family of God? What are the purposes behind this? How has Jesus shared “peace with you?” What is the purpose of this? If you are part of His household, what are you supposed to do with this?
-
How do you cross lines that divide people today? What does it mean to not treat someone as a foreigner or stranger? What does it look like to treat someone as part of your household? How can you help build up the “whole building,” the “Holy Temple?” What is your role?
-
Read Ephesians 3:1-11. What is something Jesus’ death on the cross accomplished according to this passage? What does it mean to be one body? How can you be one body with those you disagree with? What does it mean to become one household?
-
What do you need to do to reach out to people around you to become one household? Is there a people/person you have a hard time becoming one household with? How can the Holy Spirit help you in coming together?
-
Pray that you as a person, community and us as a church can cross lines to love others to become one household together.
