Message Notes for February 14, 2021
Series: Beyond; Title: Beyond Earth
How do we prepare for the world?
What does the Bible say about living beyond earth?
Luke 12: 15-21. 1 Timothy 6:6-19. Hebrews 12:1-2. Luke 12: 32-37. 1 John 2:15-17. Colossians 3:1-2. Philippians 3:13-14.
What does it mean to be in the world, but not of it?
John 17:14-19 I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. 16 They do not belong to this world any more than I do. 17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. 18 Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. 19 And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.
Christians are raised up to be sent out.
Family/Group Study Notes for February 14, 2021
Series: Beyond; Title: Beyond Earth
Think about your life. How much time do you spend thinking and preparing for making life on earth better? When teaching your children, how much time is spent preparing them for life in the world? Now consider the amount of time spent preparing yourself or your children for living with Jesus, serving Him and eternal things?
Consider the following passages. What does each say about living beyond earth? What is the writer wanting us to know? How would you change your life and your time in knowing this?
Luke 12: 15-21. 1 Timothy 6:6-19. Hebrews 12:1-2. Luke 12: 32-37. 1 John 2:15-17. Colossians 3:1-2. Philippians 3:13-14.
Read John 17:14-19. What is Jesus saying about Christians? About Himself? What are Christians called out of the world to be? To do? How is Jesus offering to help us? How does this passage change the priority of your time or what you seek to learn?
Why do we spend so much more time getting better at the world than better at serving Jesus in the world?
Gather in smaller groups and pray for each other.
