Series: FaceTime – Bartimaeus
Mark 10:46-52 46 And they came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.” 50 And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.
What did you learn about Jesus in this story?
What did you learn about Bartimaeus?
Notes I want to remember:
Family/Group Study Notes for March 7, 2021
Series: FaceTime – Bartimaeus
Share with each other a time when you believed in something or someone without ever meeting that person. What made you believe or put confidence in them?
When you think of Jesus, what do you believe He can do? What do you believe He cannot do? Why or why not?
Read the story of Bartimaeus – Mark 10:46-52. What do you learn about Jesus in this FaceTime encounter? What do you learn about Bartimaeus?
What do you think Mark, the Gospel writer, wants us to know? With so many people healed by Jesus, why do you think he included this particular healing story in his Gospel writing?
How would you see yourself like Bartimaeus when it comes to your faith? Would you have been as bold to cry out to Jesus in front of people who are likely to judge you, laugh at you or not understand you?
Do you find yourself more like the crowd trying to hush bold faith as silly or embarrassing, or promoting and encouraging this bold faith?
How would you qualify your own walk with Jesus, as one who receives from Jesus and then continues your own way, or one who receives from Jesus and goes Jesus’ way? What is the Holy Spirit saying to you here?
Read John 20:24-29. How does this passage relate to the passage in Mark above? What does Jesus want Thomas to learn? Where does Jesus say the real blessing is?
Gather in smaller groups and pray for each other’s faith and walk with Jesus.
