Philippians 4: 12-13
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation… I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Exodus 15:2
The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.
How can we find strength to thrive in our circumstances?

Adjust your focus. Philippians 4:4, James 1:2, Job 1:21

Bring your worries to God. 1 Peter 5:7, Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t linger on your current circumstance. Philippians 4:8, Psalms 84:11

What did you try to do to change your circumstance? How did it work out for you? Did you reach out to God in this circumstance? If so, how?

Read 1 Peter 5:6-11. What is Peter saying we need to do when we’re struggling with our circumstances. Who is really at work in our lives when we find ourselves anxious and struggling with our circumstances? What are we to do and know to combat Satan? What is God’s ultimate promise to us in this passage?

Read Philippians 4:4-9. What does it mean to you to “rejoice”? Why do you think Paul says that twice in verse 4? What is the difference between happiness and joy? How does this passage help us to replenish our joy? How does the peace of God guard your heart? How do verses 8 and 9 help you experience peace and joy in every circumstance?

Read Matthew 28:18. How does your understanding that Jesus has all authority affect how you see your circumstances? What promise or hope does this knowledge give you? What hope in your circumstance do you want from God right now? Share with your group.
