Series: Finding Strength
Title: Finding Strength to Love My Family Well
Series Verse: Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
1 Peter 4:8 Mes. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything.
Strength to love my family well.
First: Find the foundation.
1 Corinthians 3:10-11 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 John 4:19, Psalm 27:1, Romans 5:5, Galatians 5:22-23
Second: Choose His will.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
1 John 5:14, Matthew 6:9, 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8, Ephesians 1:18-20, Philippians 4:13.
Third: Lean into grace.
Colossians 3:13 Bear with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgive each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Romans 12:17

Title: Finding Strength to Love My Family Well
-
Read Proverbs 11:29. What does this passage mean?
-
When have you felt like you have not loved your family well? What did you do or not do that make you feel this way? Have you ever struggled to forgive yourself? How did you walk through this? What promise did you need to receive from God?
-
Read 1 Peter 4:8-9. How does love cover a multitude of sins? How does sharing gifts in the family increase the family love?
-
Read 1 Corinthians 3:10-11. What is Paul talking about in this passage? What is the promise? How can we build upon this foundation in our families? How is building on this foundation a demonstration of love? What kind of other less important things do we build upon to show love?
-
Read Romans 5:5. How does the Holy Spirit of God become God’s vessel for pouring in His love? Read Galatians 5:22-23. In this passage, how can the Holy Spirit help you love your family well? How have some of these blessings been beneficial in your family?
-
Read John 13:34. How would you describe how God showed us, His family, how much He loves us? If we are to model Jesus in our family, what might that look like?
-
Read Colossians 3:13. How has Jesus lived this passage out for you? How have you lived this passage out in your family?
-
Gather in groups and pray for each other.
