Family/Study Group Notes for Week of November 10, 2019
Part 2: God\’s friendships start and stay well
- Think about who your close friends. What keeps you together as friends? What do you do to strengthen friendships? How do you rely on each other?
- What is hard and/or easy about friendships? Do you base your friendships on what the world says or what Christ says? Do you reach out to those who are alone or new to an area? Why or why not? What stops you from crossing boundaries?
- Read Proverbs 12:26, 18:4, 22:24-25, 27:17 What do these passages say about friendship? Why do you think the Bible says so much about friendship (often times it seems to warn us more about negative friendships)?
- Read Mark 3:13-15 and reread Proverbs 12:26. What was Jesus’ relationship to his followers? Why was spending time together important? What does it mean to be interdependent? What does it mean to be selective in your friendships? Why are these two ideas important?
- Are there friends you need to move from close friends to more outside your circle? Why? How would you do this? Are there people you need to bring closer? How do you plan to do this?
- After five weeks of our neighboring and friendship series, what has changed? If nothing, do you feel you practice these aspects of your life well? Why? Is there room for improvement? How are you growing in your relationships with your neighbors and friends? If you haven’t, what holds you back? Who have you gotten to know better? How has this happened? What are you doing to change to be a better friend or neighbor?
- As Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s approaches what are you doing to reach out to your neighbors? What are you doing to be a better friend? How are you going to grow more Godly friendships?
