Title: I Am the Way, Truth, Life
Exodus 3:13-15 … God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” …’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.
John 14: 1-6 Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
- Jesus is the way.
Colossians 1:15,17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation….. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

John 18:37-38 For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” 38 Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”
Matthew 11:20 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
- Jesus is the life.

Family/Group Study Notes for the Week of April 5, 2020
Series: I Am
Title: I Am the Way, Truth, Life
- What are things in life that are most troubling for you right now? What aspects of life are you most excited about right now?
- How do you cope when things in your life fall apart? Do you shake it off easily? Do you slumber in it for a while? Does it make you depressed? What does your heart tell you that you need to do?
- Read John 14:1-7. What was going on that caused Jesus to share verse 1? When your world is in shambles, what does verse one say to you? What does God want to know? What does God want you to do? How hard is it for you to receive this from God in difficult times? Why?
- Read again verses 2-4. Why does Jesus say this? How does it fit with verse 1? How does this help you understand the big, merciful heart of God? What is the role of Jesus in these passages? What is your role in these passages? What is the outcome God desires most?
- Review again verses 5-7. How is Thomas’ reaction similar to ours? How was he thinking differently from Jesus? What do we typically want from Jesus when our world is messed up? Why does Jesus not draw a map or give directions? Why does Jesus simply say He is the way? How is that fundamentally different from what Thomas might have expected?
- What does Jesus as “way” mean to you? What does Jesus as “truth” mean to you? What does Jesus as “life” mean to you?
- Read John 10:10. How would you relate this passage to our world today?
- Gather with each other to share prayer and hope.
