Title: Creating a Generosity Plan
Share with each other what generosity means to you. How do you currently express your generosity? How do you see others being generous to you? Take a moment to evaluate your life, gifts, abilities, opportunities, fresh starts, do overs, Jesus, etc. How has God been generous to you? Write it down! Share with the group.
God’s definition of success is using the gifts He has given you to your best ability in serving Him and others. How is this different from worldly success? What does God’s definition of success cause us to do and not to do?
Read Matthew 14:13-21. What was the need in this passage? What were the disciples afraid of? What are typical fears you have when faced with so much need? Has so much need ever paralyzed you to do anything? Explain! What did the boy do in the face of such need? What do you think God can do with your hand raised to help in service to God’s Kingdom agenda in our world? What would you offer? Why would you hold back?
Read Acts 6:1-7. What are the needs in this passage? Was feeding widows the only need? How would the feeding allow the spread of the gospel to continue? Is one need more important than another? What does this passage say about the essential nature of everyone being involved? What if no one else raised their hands to meet the care needs of God’s people? What would happen to the teaching and spreading of the Gospel? How did multiplication take place in this passage? How can that take place in ourchurch?
Review the message notes on how to live the generosity of God: look in the mirror, look to God, live into God’s promises, order your days, use your gifts and talents in the measure you have been given, savor the joy. Establish your daily plan that allows God’s generosity to move through you in building thanksgiving in you.
