Title: Emotional Intimacy
* As you consider our emotional God and being created in His image, what “rules” about emotions do you have? What came from your family? From church? How do these ideas about emotion line up with your understanding of Scripture, who God is and His instructions about relationships?
* Luke 10:27 He answered: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Which of these areas might be a growth area in your love of Him? In what way would you like to love your first neighbor (your spouse/family)?
* Spend some time reflecting on your heart: Explore your iceberg, so to speak. What are you mad about? What are you sad about? What are you anxious or scared about? What are you happy about? How does God meet you in these emotions? Use some of your reflections as springboards to deeper conversations with your loved ones.
* Discuss Emotional Fitness in your family. In what area are you weakest in your emotional fitness? How does God help you grow in this
area? How can you help yourself? Is there a way your spouse, or a friend, can help you in this area? How can you help your children grow in their emotional fitness?
* Emotionally Connecting as a couple: What feeling is difficult for me to share honestly and vulnerably? What would help me feel more
emotionally safe in our relationship? What skill do you lack in being
emotionally connected to your spouse, close friend, children? How would they answer that question? How can you grow in this skill?
