Title: Sexual Intimacy
1. Background
Genesis 2:23-25 NKJV 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. 25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands…dwell with them according to knowledge”
2. Four types of love
· Agape- unconditional love of God
· Phileo-love between friends
· Storge-love between family members
· Eros-love between married people
Song of Solomon 4:16-5:1 Let my beloved come to his garden and eat its choicest fruits.
I came to my garden, my sister, my bride, I gathered my myrrh with my spice. I ate my
honeycomb with my honey, I drank my wine with my milk. Eat, friends, drink, and be drunk
with love.
3. Differences in thought patterns of men and women and pathways to intimacy
4. Inhibitors to Intimacy:
· Lack of Conversation
· Fear
· Fatigue
· Pornography

5. How to reconnect Intimacy:
· Non-sexual touching
· Communicating needs
· Simmer (texting)
· Fulfill your mates needs
· Never use physical intimacy as a weapon
1 Corinthians 7:5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
· Create boundaries around your marriage

1-Identify barriers that prevent you and your spouse from being connected.
Discuss each item
Write personal goals to correct
Write strategies to reconnect
2- Read -Song of Solomon Chapter 8. Discuss!
3- Take turns listing physical, emotional, spiritual qualities you love about your spouse.
4-Take turns to define any deficiencies you see about yourself personally that you would like to improve.
5- Set goals to improve any qualities that you would like to improve personally about yourself.
6- What areas of physical intimacy would you like to improve?
7- Is it time to talk with your children about sex? These are resources to assist you when it is appropriate to keep you from being unprepared.
