Lead Pastor POSITION
CtK’s founding Pastor Craig Bollinger plans to retire after 32+ years on 1/1/26. We are looking to bring in a new Lead Pastor within the next 6-12 months to assume that role with Pastor Craig serving in a support role until he retires. Pastor Craig will continue as a member of CtK and focus on helping further develop our mission programs.
Our Lead Pastor serves as a spiritual leader and guide within the community, responsible for nurturing the faith of congregants in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and fostering a welcoming environment. This role involves preaching, teaching, and counseling while actively engaging with the community to promote growth and development of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Pastor will work collaboratively with church leadership, volunteers and our partner organizations to plan and execute church programs, services, and events.
Duties
– Deliver engaging sermons and teachings that inspire and educate the congregation.
– Provide pastoral care through counseling, support during crises, officiating funerals and weddings.
– Lead Christ the King’s vision forward and give oversight to events and worship services that break down barriers to Christ and create a welcoming community.
– Lead Bible studies, quarterly mid-week worship services, and other gatherings to encourage community involvement.
– Collaborate with church leadership to develop strategic plans for ministry growth and outreach initiatives. Meet with volunteer leadership for training
Skills
– Strong public speaking abilities to effectively present messages in a compelling manner.
– Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse groups within the congregation.
– Proven leadership skills to guide teams and inspire volunteers in various church activities.
– Crisis management capabilities to support congregants during challenging times.
Qualifications
-MDiv or equivalent.
-Ability to preach and teach from the Bible (expository preaching and teaching).
-Experience as a pastor of congregation with 350 -400 in weekly attendance.
-Experience leading a team of seven or more staff members.
-Agreement with the Faith and Practice of the Lutheran Congregations for Mission in Christ and Christ the King’s Statement of Faith is required

Experience:
· Minimum 10 years of increasingly responsible pastoral duties.

· Have a strong vision for the Church, including strategic planning and outreach activities.
Ability to Relocate:
· Must be willing to live within Christ the King’s primary membership area. The church is located at 13501 S Tryon St. You will find Charlotte to be a wonderful place to live with a great quality of life, rich cultural & recreational activities, and a mild climate with four seasons, a welcoming diverse community, outstanding schools on all levels, a great food scene, strong health care, and an international airport.

On Sundays, our congregation comes alive with around 250 worshippers gathered in person, joined by another 200 online. Our dedicated team includes three full-time pastors, including a worship pastor, as well as a full-time youth director and children’s director. Additionally, we’re supported by various essential staff members who play a crucial role in our ministry, impacting our community not just on Sundays, but every single day. Together, we’re committed to making a lasting difference and spreading the message of love and faithfulness far beyond our church walls.
