Series: Moments that Matter
Title: Integrity and Resilience
- Read Genesis 39:1-5. How did Joseph step into the moment of his brothers selling him into slavery? Why was Joseph successful? Joseph exhibited RESILIENCE which is making the most of difficult situations. It is the ability to bounce back from adversity, adapt and even grow stronger in the face of challenges.
- Read Mark 5:25-34. How long had the woman been seeking a cure for her disease? In what ways did she suffer through this time? What did Jesus say was the operative power that brought her healing? Discuss how faith is an essential ingredient to our resilience as we trust the Lord and step through our moments that matter.
- Read Jeremiah 29:1-7. Jeremiah’s message comes hundreds of years after Joseph’s time in the Bible. What are the parallels between Joseph’s behavior and Jeremiah’s instructions to God’s people in exile in Babylon? How can you apply this to challenges in your own life?
- Read Galatians 6:7-9. What does this passage suggest is the harvest we will reap when we continue resiliently doing good? Which is more difficult for you, sowing to the flesh or sowing to the Spirit? Why?
- Read Genesis 45: 4-5. Did Joseph know the end of his story when he stepped into his moments that matter? How did Joseph’s understanding of who he was in relation to God’s character, promises and commandments determine HOW he stepped into each situation in his journey.
- Read Daniel Chapter 6. Daniel risked his life in prayer in the face of the king’s decree. He modeled unshakable commitment to God. Who did Daniel give glory to as soon as he was delivered from the lion’s den? What was the fate of the conspirators against Daniel? What response did Daniels witness bring forth from King Darius in the end?
