What makes for good community and friendships…?
Loyalty
Honesty
Understanding
Fun
We all at some level have lamented the loss of connection, whether in person or over zoom…
1 Thessalonians 5:4-11
Darkness Day/Light
Hate – sober judgement
Anger – faith
Envy – love
Not meeting together – meeting together
Unforgiveness – encouragement
Not to be like others who are asleep – protection from forces
What does it look like to encourage, to build each other up?
Hebrews 10:19-25
Because of all this He says we are called to support each other.
The call to gather in love and care for each other because of what Christ has done for us is clear… written throughout the Bible… to do life together. Where are you connected?

Title: Restoring the Joy of Community
What makes a good community and a good friendship? What communities or friendships do you have? How strong are your friendships? Can you tell them anything, will they tell you anything? How would you rate the different communities and friendships you are in? Why? Are any of them Christ based? What sets them apart or are they set apart?
Have your relationships with friends, family, or community suffered, changed, or struggled over the last two years? If so, how much and why? How has Christ’s healing power been brought in? If they have not struggled, why haven’t they? What has kept them strong?
How important are friendship and community to you? How important should they be to you? Read 1 Thessalonians 5:4-11 and Hebrews 10:19-25. How do these passages describe living in relationship to Christ and then each other? What do these passages say about community and friendship? How well are you doing living in these passages? Are there things that hold you back?
What do you need to do to restore the joy of friendship and community back into your life? How can you help other people find friendship or community? Where do you need to grow stronger and be a better friend?
Why is community important as a Christian? What stops you from being in community and why? How can you overcome this? How can you help others find community?
How can you build community and friendships in your own life and help others do the same this year?
