Title: “Immanuel” God with us
How would you describe the Christmas story to someone?
Where in your life, do you think it is too sinful or messy for Jesus?
Matthew 1:18-25
It’s not “God like us” it is “God with us” and there’s a huge difference!
“God with us” changes everything!
-
Jesus entered a sinful world, so receive Him even into your messiness (John 1:11-13)
-
Jesus drew near to you first, so you can draw near to God (Heb 4:15-16)
-
Draw near to someone else as Christ drew near to you (Mt 28:19-20)

Title: “Immanuel” God with us
What’s your all time favorite Christmas movie? What are your expectations for this Christmas?
If you had to save the world, how would you do it? Why is the Christmas story of Jesus’ birth important to you?
Read Matthew 1:18-25. What stands out to you about Mary and Josephs faith and obedience? What does the name Jesus mean? How does that impact you?
Where in your life do you think is too sinful, messy, or simply not holy enough for Jesus to be present in? (Work, school, errands, family, friends, fun).
How does the fact that God is now with you, bring you comfort and joy?
What is one way you can receive Jesus into a messy area of your life?
What is one way you will draw near to God this Christmas?
What is one way you will draw near to someone else’s world this Christmas?
Close with reading John 1:11-14. Pray, thanking God for sending his only son Jesus.
