Title: Wisdom and the Holy Spirit
God’s Spirit is given to us to reveal the mind of God, His wisdom in Christ and His plan for His people.
1 Corinthians 2:6-16 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— 10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. 14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Personal Notes: Balancing the wisdom of the world and wisdom of God!
How do we grow in Spiritual wisdom?
· We long for God’s Spirit to Indwell in us.
John 14:25-26, John 16:12-15
· We submit to God’s long-term wisdom, not our newfound knowledge.
1 Timothy 6:20-21, 2 Timothy 1:13-14
· We pass on simple truths as we have learned them.
· We treasure the community of Spirit-led people around us.

Title: Wisdom and the Holy Spirit
* How do you discern the guidance of the Holy Spirit in your life? How does fear get in the way of following the Spirit’s lead?
* How do you balance following the leading of the Holy Spirit and the culture’s obsession with reason and logic? When have you followed the leading of the Holy Spirit when it did not make rational sense for your personal gain? Share your story with your family or group? How did the Spirit’s leading accomplish part of God’s Kingdom agenda or obedience to His word in the Scriptures? How does following the Holy Spirit’s leading relate to faith? How is Hebrews 11:6 true?
* Read 1 Corinthians 2:6-16. In verse 6, what does spiritual maturity look like in a Christian? How do you share spiritual maturity with secular people? In vs. 7, what is the secret, hidden wisdom of God? How was that wisdom revealed? Why does it take the Holy Spirit for someone to understand the meaning of Christ crucified for them?
* In vs 9, how does this passage give you hope in God’s goodness? How does that passage relate to God’s wisdom revealed in and through Jesus Christ?
* In vs. 13, what is the work of the Holy Spirit in us? Also read John 14:15-17 and John 16:4-15. How is this work of the Holy Spirit true in your life? How could you make it more so?
* Describe how reading God’s word in the Bible and discerning Spiritual direction with other mature Christians can mature your walk with Jesus. Be specific as to how each is critical. How can you improve in these areas?
* Gather with your group/family and pray for each other’s maturing Christian walk.
