Title: Thankful Heart “CLEAN YOUR GLASSES, TO SEE CLEARLY”

Psalm 121:1,2 (ESV) – I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 

My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. 

You can see clearly in foggy, troubling times, by looking at Christ on the throne.  

Isaiah 6:1-8 – A vision that brought perspective to the prophet 

Go the Place of Cleaning

Week of November 29, 2020 

“Clean Your Glasses, so you can see Jesus on the throne” 

1.  Think over 2020. What are two or three occurrences that have caused fog in your ability to see clearly? What are two or three truths that have been helpful so you can see clearly? 

2.  Read Isaiah 6:1-8. What would have caused Isaiah to have foggy vision at this moment? In this experience of Isaiah, what are the sounds, sights, smells, and sensations that stand out to you? What do you think Isaiah felt in his inner person? What clarified his vision of life and the future? 

3.  Read Ps 121. When you think of God as the creator of heaven and earth, and reigning from heaven, what are some of things of this world, and your life experience, over which He has all authority? What difference does it make that Jesus has all authority over this, for how you can live in the midst of it, even if uncertainty seems to be predominant? 

4.  Read Philippians 2:1-11. When was Jesus exalted? What occurred between the two periods of exaltation? (Note: in reading Phil 2:5-8, we can see that Jesus was exalted, before he came to earth in the Incarnation.) What are the applications that Paul draws out for us, from this truth of Jesus humbling himself? (see verses 1-5). How can you put one of these into practice, in your family, workplace, or neighborhood, this week? 

5.  Read Rev 4,5. What are the images of the exalted Christ? What are the responses of those around Him? How should we live, now, in view of being with the exalted Christ, in the future? 

6.  After looking at Jesus Christ, on the throne, are you able to face 2020 with a different perspective?  Is there a change in an attitude, or action, that you believe you need to make, to finish 2020 well?  Commit to take this step.
