Title: God Dwelt Among Us So God Could Dwell Within Us
Message Verses: John 1: 1-14
Discussion Questions:
* A summary of God’s desire throughout the bible from the garden of Eden to the New Jerusalem in the book of Revelation is to dwell with us. Have you always believed that?
* Review Genesis 1, where do you see light, life, and creation? Read John 1:1-14, where do you see light, life and creation referenced?
* Read John 1:11. What would it look like to be a people who receive or do not receive Jesus?
* Read John 1:14. If “dwelt among us” really means “tabernacled” among us in the original language, what does that mean? What was the tabernacle in the Old Testament? Why is this so important?
* If your body is a temple for the Lord, where His Spirit dwells, how does that change your life? Your thoughts and your actions?
* Read 2 Cor 2:19. If you’ve been born again, and God’s spirit dwells in you, why is it that we feel far from God at times?
* How can you recognize God’s indwelling presence more this week and then this year? What evidence of your life could someone see as a witness to God dwelling in you?
If you are unsure if God’s Spirit dwells in you, reflect on who Jesus is to you and if he has made you new. You may want to proclaim Jesus as your Lord, turn from sin, ask him to come into your life, and make you new. Let him rearrange your stable of your life and let everything in your life worship Him!
