Series: What’s in your stable?
Title: God With Us!
There are so many wonderful events and aspects of Christmas. There is hardly time enough to soak them all in. Our lives, homes and gatherings can get so crowded, like the stable where Jesus first laid, it can become distracting as to the greatest wonder in the room. Emmanuel – God with us!
What’s in your stable this Christmas?
How will you get ready to receive Jesus?
I Corinthians 9: 25-27, Psalm 121: 11, 13-16
In the mess, Jesus was born!
Luke 2:1-7 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
Matthew 2: 10-12
Isaiah 11:1-2

* Gather with your family this week and read the Christmas story in Luke 1:26 – 2:1-21. Share with each other what Jesus means to you. What aspects of these passages still bring you wonder and awe?
* What does it mean to you that God is with us through Jesus? What difference does this make in your daily life, decisions, struggles and victories?
* Since Jesus has come to be with us and now lives in us through the power of the Holy Spirit, how can you get to know Him more? In what ways can you be more in tune with His voice? What daily disciplines will help you?
* Make a plan with your family or friends as to how you will draw nearer to Jesus in this coming year as He has drawn near to you. Reflect on Psalm 119:11-16.
