Title: Extra Grace Required
To bear with one another in love is not easy. It takes a lot of patience and grace to help someone grow or allow someone to be.
Ephesians 4: 1-2 nlt Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love….
How to gain capacity to grow in patience and love:
- Forgiveness
Colossians 3: 12-13 esv 12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
- Self-Reflection
Matthew 7:3-5 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? 4 How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.
- Guard against a critical nature
Ephesians 4:15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
- Understanding sin’s power
Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.
