Title: Conqueror

Is your mindset one of a conqueror or a defeatist? 

The crowd’s voice = defeatist.

God’s voice = conqueror.

Romans 8:31-37 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ….37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Moving from defeat to conqueror:

1) Give God your defeats!

2) Rise above the crowd labeling!

3) Connect to a conquering mentor!

Series: Defined    Title: Conqueror – A Study of Joshua

• How would you describe your mindset – more as defeatist or conqueror?  Why? What factors have contributed to your responding in these ways?

• Read Numbers 14:1-12.  How do you see the difference in the mindsets of the people?  Why do you think some were defeatists while others were conquerors even though they came from the same place and experience?

• Read Romans 8:31-37.  What is the promise Paul is sharing in this passage?  Where is Satan’s work described?  How has that work of Satan impacted your life?  What lies have been planted in your mindset?

• What does it mean to be “more than a conqueror”? How does God add surplus to victory?  What has that looked like for you?  

• Why does the crowd like to put people in labeled boxes? How is this oppressive?  How does this limit a conquering mindset?

• How have mentors helped you move from defeat to victory?  Where do you need a mentor in your life right now?  Read Proverbs 13:20. What does this passage mean?  How do you see it lived out?

• Gather in smaller groups and pray for each other.
